Counseling Office
General Information
Located in the main office, the counseling office is a place where students and families can request help to remove barriers to learning. The focus is the academic, social-emotional, and personal wellness of each student so that he or she can be the best learner they can be.
Highlights
As a part of the school student support team, the school counselor provides:
- Small group counseling focused on individual needs such as anxiety, grief and loss, anger management, friendship, social skills and more
- Parental and caregiver support, including resource referral and guidance
- Teacher consultation and in-class support
- Brief, solution focused individual counseling for students
- Conflict resolution for students as requested by a teacher, student, or parent/caregiver
- Partnership with the Care Solace service which provides:
- Mental health and substance use care coordination for ALL students, staff, and families connected to our school 24 hours a day / 365 days a year on behalf of schools for our students, staff, and families.
- All levels of need from individual therapy to medical / residential treatment services.
- No limits on number of or types of care that are coordinated.
- Appointments within 1-2 weeks of referral (the Care Solace national average is 5 days).
- Help for families with insurance navigation and appointment booking; specializing on cultural and language needs aligning them with care that fits their family needs.
- A robust provider pool – all of which go through a quarterly verification process with Care Solace.
- Follow-up with family for assurance of satisfaction with their provider.
- Care Solace provides assistance when the need is outside the scope of school services – all levels of need supported.
