Safety

To be a volunteer, in accordance with the Office of Youth Protection at the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and Archdiocese of Seattle, any time a parent or other volunteer works, or volunteers, in any capacity in connection with the church, parish or school —no matter how infrequently this occurs—safe environment training is required, in addition to undergoing a background check. Thus, the parent who serves even once during the year must complete the full Safe Environment requirements. Until this has been completed that parent must not be allowed to volunteer at the school or parish, with our children.

Volunteering

In order to volunteer at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School, you will need to:

  • Set up a Virtus account
  • Sign up for a Protecting God’s Children class
  • Fill out a background check
  • Sign off on the Required Documents

To do that, go to Virtus and click on Registration. You will be walked through the process. The initial class is a 3-hour on-site class and you must sign up in advance.

Safety in the Classroom

Circle of Grace is the Archdiocese of Seattle’s safety program for our children in the classroom, with lessons for Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Sign-In Protocol

SCB has adopted the Raptor Safe mobile app as part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing school safety and streamlining visitor management in our schools. This app builds on our existing visitor procedures, offering a more convenient and secure check-in process for everyone.

Visitors

The Raptor Safe app offers a convenient and secure way for visitors to manage and verify their identity before arriving at a school. With the Raptor Passport feature, visitors can pre-verify their identity, allowing for a seamless sign-in process when they arrive on campus.

When visiting a school, visitors can use their secure QR code generated by the app to expedite the check-in process. QR codes automatically regenerate every 5 minutes to ensure security and prevent misuse.

The Raptor Safe app is available to all visitors in our community. To download the app, please visit RaptorSafe App. It is available for download on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store as well.

Please note upon sign-up, we do not have a school code, so you need to choose the option of creating an account without a code.

For questions or assistance, please contact Cathleen Rieck (crieck@stcharlesb.org) in our school office.
