The Burning Bush

GOD HAS BLESSED ME!

God's joy is to Bless. While God is always
blessing us, there are certain times when
when we are overhelmed by God's goodness
and graciousness.

It can occur when we see a sunset or sunrise.
Most often, we lift up our hearts in praise
when we meet another who loves us.

When we experience God's blessing, we can do no better than to say
with Mary, "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord. My spirit
rejoices in God, my Savior. He has look upon my lowliness".

The whole purpose of blessing is to draw
us to union. After he rose from the dead
Jesus met Peter on the seashore and asked
"Do you love me?" This is not just the
question that Jesus asks Peter. It is the
question that God asks each of us. We
are not asked about our faults, our
failings, our sins. We are only asked,
"Do you love me?"

God asks that question of us again and again: in the warmth of the sun,
the snow on the mountain, the waves of the ocean, the beauty of the
sky. We are asked that question most profoundly in the love of another
and in the silence of our hearts. With Peter it is our great joy to respnd,
"Yes, Lord you know that I love you." At that moment we know that
God has blessed us.
