The Holy Spirit Jesus
promised to send his Spirit upon his disciples.
The Spirit would enable them to get it, to
finally understand what Christ was teaching them. The Spirit would give them
the courage to live as Christ taught. And the Spirit would guide and strengthen
them to share the Good News of Gods Way of Life, a way of right
relationships, goodness and life with others.
|
The Holy Spirit acts
like a personal trainer (advocate) who enlightens, guides and consoles the
disciples. The Pentecost event, which has many parallels with the Creation
account, marks the promised coming of the Holy Spirit. It is the beginning of
the Church. The gift of the Spirit to those first disciples continues in our
own day. (Acts Chapter 2).
The
Spirit has the characteristics of Wind and Fire, moving where it will . The
Dove is often used as a symbol of the Spirits presence. Whenever the Dove
is mentioned in the Bible you know the Wind (Spirit) is present. |
