Catholicity

St. Charles Borromeo Parish School, as an American Catholic school in the 21st century, strives to clearly and consistently present the doctrinal, social, and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. This is the single most important policy to assure that the mission of St. Charles as a Catholic school is accomplished.

All teachers of religion are certified according to a process developed by the Archdiocesan Catholic School Office. Teacher development programs in religious content and methodology are offered and encouraged through the Archdiocese Catechist Certification Program.

Hearing Christ's call to serve others, the school has developed service programs and opportunities for students and families. This service dimension is encouraged within our parish community, the local community, and the world community of the less fortunate.

As a Catholic school, St. Charles Borromeo proclaims its Catholicity through liturgies, sacraments and preparation, traditions, and Catholic forms of prayer. This characterizes St. Charles Borromeo uniquely in the educational arena.

The parish and school leadership believe that Catholicity is so critically important to the vitality and survival of the school that it is stressed and reinforced at every point in the process of planning, supporting, and evaluating the school.

We believe that Catholic schools do make a difference in the adult faith life of people who graduate from them. The St. Charles Borromeo community believes we will be successful to the degree that we remain faithful to our roots in Roman Catholic tradition. Relating in an integral way to the mission and ministry of the parish community, which has so generously supported our school, has contributed to our continued success.

As an effective Catholic school, St. Charles Borromeo is not simply a place where lessons are taught; it is a center that has an operative educational philosophy illuminated by the Gospel message. St. Charles Borromeo School, through the talents and gifts of administrators, faculty, staff, and parents, strives to make the reign of God ever visible.
