Student of the Week in 3A

In 3A our student of the week was Mrs. Vecchiato.  Mrs. Vecchiato’s favorite book is Ramona.  Her favorite saint is St. Anthony and her special talents are sewing and skiing.  If she could change the world, she would stop wars!

Where in the United States was Mrs. Vecchiato?  Washington.  Its state capital is Olympia.

Spelling

Next week our words have double consonants. They are: happen, pretty, letter, million, little, rabbit, hurry, muffins, balloon, ladder, puddle, middle, hammer, lesson, and drill.  Bonus:  Kwakiutl

Social Studies Update

We have begun a three-chapter unit on common Native Americans from the US.  The first unit is about the Kwakiutl. Please look for Social Study worksheets and study guides. (Don’t recycle them yet- they are great study guides!) We will have our first test the week of Sept. 20.  More details to follow.

Writing This Week

The students did an outstanding job on their postcards this week.  They all followed the Writing Process of:

  • Outline
  • Rough Draft
  • Final Copy

We shared them today and I will be displaying them in the classroom! Keep up the great work.

Next week our writing assignment will be a Timeline.  You will find the rough draft- My Timeline Worksheet and the final draft-My Timeline in your child’s Friday Folder.  They will both be due on Thursday, Sept 16.  We are working on timelines in Social Studies and I have instructed the children to write the months and years of an important happening and a headline on the line that describes that particular event.  They can either draw and color the pictures in the boxes or use actual photographs!  Use your imagination.  We will be sharing these with the class!
