Why SCRIP?

It is the easiest fund-raising we can do as a community!  We have been asked to produce $75,000 next year for the school budget.  The only way we can do that is for everyone to participate in the program.  There are two (2) options to do this:

• One option is for each family to purchase a minimum of $2500 in SCRIP during the 2010-2011 school year. Those choosing this option and not fulfilling their commitment will be charged the remaining balance multiplied by 8%. 
• The second option is to choose not to purchase SCRIP and buyout at $200 cash or check by October 15, 2010.

What Is It?

Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”.  When you purchase SCRIP, you’re purchasing gift cards that are used just like cash. You can use SCRIP to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for our organization. 

 

How It Works

St Charles is registered with the Great Lakes SCRIP Center.  Through this clearing house, we have the purchasing power of over 3,000 non-profit organizations and schools.  Not all merchants belong to this organization, however, we have great support from a lot of local retailers and restaurants who also give us a SCRIP ‘discount’ rate on their gift cards.  You may use our Order Form for inventoried items normally in stock.  SCRIP is a popular fundraiser because families don’t have to sell anything. St Charles families (you and your friends) produce revenue by making regular household purchases you would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with SCRIP.

 

How To Order SCRIP

There are several ways to obtain SCRIP and earn money for St Charles.  The one that most people are used to currently is to walk up and purchase it!

 

On-site SCRIP Sales Hours:

•       Monday 7:45-9:00 AM – School Hallway by the Office
•       Wednesday 2:45-3:30 PM - Outside in the Jr. High Parking Lot
  
•       Thursday 2:45-3:30 PM – Outside near the Primary Parking Lot
•       Friday 7:45-9:00 AM and 2:45-3:30 PM – at the Food Bank
•       Saturday and Sunday – after each Mass – at the Food Bank

 

Another way is to go to www.shopwithscrip.com.  A list of merchants is available in pdf form here.   Just register with your email address and use the St Charles enrollment code: 4DD571663665.  When you order here, keep in mind that what you order is added to our normal SCRIP order from the Great Lakes Center.  Orders should be done by midnight Sunday night to ensure that you receive your portion by Friday of that same week.  Presto Pay is an option you may want to consider to pay by ACH.  Your order total will be deducted automatically from your checking account by enrolling in this option.  There is a .39 cent fee for each order.  If you choose not to do this, you can still pay by check or cash by sending it with your child or bringing it to the SCRIP mobile office. 

 

The Standing Order Form is an easy way to get your order each month when you purchase the same items repeatedly.  Just fill it out, attach post dated checks for each month, and send in to the SCRIP office.  We will fill your order for the date requested and send home with your child.  There is always an option for us to hold the order for pick up, if you are not comfortable with it being sent in your child’s backpack.

 

Additional ways to earn money for St Charles online and at participating retailers is available by registering your grocery cards, credits card, and debit card at:     .com.

Within the escrip.com website, there is an option to shop at The Online Mall.  Any merchant you utilize from this site will contribute to St Charles when you shop!

 

One other feature is to download the AutoEarn at this site, which enables eSCRIP to recognize when you are on a site which will contribute a percentage to St Charles, if you purchase directly from that site.  Not all merchants have this option, so you may want to go to the www.escrip.com site to access The Online Mall.
