Weekly Workers: 4a Leverett Family and 4B Nellist Family

You can sign up for a parent weekly worker job on the sheets outside our classrooms.

Back to School Night:  A big thank you to all of you who came to back to school night on Thursday.  We know that we threw a lot of information at you all at once.  If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to email us or stop by. One more note- the best way to contact us is through emails. However if you need to communicate something to either of us quickly, please contact the front office. Many times we are unable to check emails throughout the day because of classes and duties. If a lunch is dropped off in the office, if you need to pick up your child early that day, or you want homework sent home, etc.- please just call the front office and they can get the message to us.

Math News:

  • Please note that your child will be coming home on Tuesday with a graded math homework packet (which will include: a scored green cover sheet to be signed and that week of corrected homework assignments) and timed-test scores.  Both will need to be signed and returned by Wednesday.

  • Coming home each week will be yellow colored Math Checkpoint pages (about 3 per week). There are three problems on each Checkpoint.  These are our reviews of concepts learned.  If you notice your child is not getting 3/3, please continue to practice that concept with them.  These are skills that should be mastered by this time.

Scripture Verse (cursive writing): I will send you the Comforter – the Holy Spirit, the source of all truth.  He will come to you from the Father and will tell you all about Me. -- John 15:26

Due Friday- Students are expected to complete the practice pages and turn in the scripture verses on Friday.  Please do not tear out the practice pages, we will check them on Friday.

Language Arts News:  On Monday we will be giving the requirements and papers for the fantasy book report.  The kids will have some time during class to get started on it. It is pretty straightforward if they read and follow the directions carefully. We will show them some examples and you are welcome to stop by and see them as well.  They will be due Monday, Nov. 2.

Each month your child is required to take and pass a reading counts quiz.  The book needs to be 150 or more pages as well as be at the 4th grade level or higher unless it has been okayed by me ahead of time. Please no graphic novels.

They are also required to read at least 200 pages each month for Cougar Club.  A form is passed out at the beginning of each month.  If it gets misplaced they can just write their books and pages on any kind of paper.  It is due the last day of each month.

Assignment Books: Please remember to sign your child’s assignment book nightly when the homework has been completed and checked.

Book Orders:  Don’t forget  you can order online  at  Mrs. Griffin’s class code is DWRV3 and Mrs. Vecchiato’s code is GVLKP. There is no deadline to order online. We will be notified and will place the orders ASAP.

IXL begins: Due Thurs, 9/21  am. We ask that the students master the concept with 100% or at least 30 minutes.

Language Arts for this week is grade 4  A.4-simple subject or predicate

Math for this week is grade 4  A.2 Convert between standard and expanded form

Help Needed:

Weekly Worker sign-up sheets are posted outside each classroom door.  If you would like to help in the classroom, please sign up for a designated week.  Weekly Workers pick a day that works best for them and work 1-2 hours with general classroom items.

Math Game-Day Helpers: We are hoping to have Math Game Day- (playing math games to reinforce concepts learned.) We will need 7 helpers from each classroom.  This will be a once a month commitment (Fridays) and you will play the same game each week, the students will rotate. Time will be from 9:25-10:00 for 4B and 11:10-11:40 for 4A.  I have Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Haynes in 4B. Thank you!

Prayer Parent Helper for 4A and 4B to test the kids on their monthly prayers. If interested, let either of us know. Thank you Mrs. Leverett and Mrs. Melvard in 4A. Thank you Mrs. Dalumpines in 4B.

Prayer Tests: All students are expected to successfully pass their monthly prayers before the end of the month.  Students may take the oral exam whenever they are prepared.

September’s Prayers:

Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father,

And of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Grace Before Meals

Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive

from Thy bounty, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now

and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory Be (Doxology)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
