We all had great fun learning music while learning about GEOGRAPHY!

    In October:

In October, we learned all of the 5 Armed Forces songs:

  2. Coast Guard
  3. Air Force
  4. Marines
  5. Navy
We are proud to sing these songs at our November Veteran's Day Assembly on Nov. 10th . Please come and join us, especially if you are a Veteran.
Also in October our 5th graders started their RECORDER KARATE PROGRAM  and our 6th graders continued with the GUITAR PROGRAM started in 5th grade.

The PERFORMING ARTS ELECTIVE, which includes a sampling of music, drama and dance for our 7th and 8th graders, will be finished up their drama unit by performing BIBLE PLAYS for the younger grades.  Then began their unit on GUITAR!

All of our students will learn the story, songs, and even some of the acting in preparation for the fabulous performances on Feb. 2,3,and 4.

In April our 5th graders will attend a performance of the
                            Tacoma Symphony Orchestra.
This will be our third year using the "Link Up" series.  This is a program of the Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute for students in grades 3-5.  The program is highly participatory with students singing, moving and playing recorder along with the symphony orchestra.

Also in April we celebrate INSTRUMENT MONTH  when we
learned about all the different INSTRUMENT FAMILIES.

In May we will have our annual PERFORMANCE WEEK
This is a chance to make sure we all know how to act
as an audience member while watching our classmates
           perform.

In June it's time to SING AROUND THE CAMPFIRE

when we have fun in our music classroom campsite.

What were some of our favorite songs last year?
